Concerned
at the poor crowds attracted to 3rd Division football,
the SFL, inspired by the example of Rugby League
and American Football, has decided to enforce name
changes, etc on the 3rd Division clubs in order
to bring a bit more razzmatazz into the game. Thus
an extract from the fixture list from the 2000/2001
season would read as follows:
Coatbridge
Cadgers v Cowdenbeath Cowboys (at the Buckfast Alkydome)
Elgin Marbles v Shire Stealers (Tcheuchter Park)
Montrose Shelf Packers v Brechin City Hedgers (Wooden
Spoon Stadium)
Hamilton Homeless v Dumbarton Winos (Portakabin
Park)
Young Boys of Methil v Peterheid Pooves (New Gayview)
Dumbarton
Winos v Young Boys of Methil (at the Paddy Field
Park)
Shire Stealers v Hamilton Homeless (M Tee stadium)
Peterheid Pooves v Elgin Marbles (Penitentiary Park)
Brechin City Hedgers v Coatbridge Cadgers (High
Hedge Row)
Cowdenbeath Cowboys v Montrose Shelf Packers (Scalectrix
Stadium)
